I believe that my work currently is at around a band 3, this is due to the way in which the magazine compares to other already marked magazines. I think that there is too much dead space on some parts of my front cover e.g. the top right hand corner, this reflects unprofessional work and therefore should be changed before my final presentation. I think that the layout of the text on my front cover appears very professional, the text stands out well off the page and is therefore eye catching. Audience appeal is almost everything that a magazine must be about and I feel that my magazine does this well. The text is bold and reflects the 'bold' genre. The model used on the front cover is appealing to the genre through the clothes that he is wearing. After a lot of research into the genre it is clear that this is an appearance that would be expected of the genre and therefore would be appealing to the indie audience, maximising audience appeal. I feel that the layout of the magazine reflects that of well organised magazine, the rule of thirds is used well and as is the colour pallet that I have chosen, these are themes that are stereotypical of an indie magazine, this therefore appears professional.
I feel that my contents page is the weakest of my pages, the way in which the page is laid out works well however the text for my main articles is too big, this looks very unprofessional and rather than this the articles should instead be smaller, include more headings and include more images. The image that I do use works well with the genre as Reading and Leeds is an indie rock music festival (the same as my genre) this therefore will appeal to a wide amount of the magazines audience and therefore works well. I feel that the Band Index works well at taking up what would be dead space, along with the alternate colour scheme I feel that this works very professionally. I think that the headings and the articles that I have chosen looks very good and their core ideas are what I want to continue to use anyway I just think that they should be smaller and there should be more of them.
My double page spread works well with the use of images that I have in so far, the images are shot well and the edits allow the images to have a rustic vintage feel to them, that that is common to the indie genre. However I feel that more images would be useful to the page to break up what is otherwise a vast amount of text. The quote in the centre of the page reflects that of most magazines and therefore appears very professional. The header on the top of all of my pages allows continuity and creates a link between all of my pages this looks professional and is good image for the magazine.
