As you can see here, I have developed a lot of the things that would interest my reader into a collage, this allows me to understand the kinds of interests that my Primary audience as well as my secondary audience would be interested in, this allows me to know exactly how to appeal and therefore maximise the audience appeal of my magazine, I will know talk through all of my ideas and highlight their importance. To begin with there is the idea of the modern of technology as well as well the idea of retro/vintage idea. The idea of modern technology is throughout this collage as the target audience of 15-30 year olds are often up to date with current technology. This appeals to the audience and would be something that could be included in the magazine, through this the idea of websites etc would be influential to the audience. To add to this the vintage look is included in the image with the use of the camera and the polaroid images etc. This would be abstract kind of approach when looked at nowadays and this is something that is often linked with the inide genre, this therefore influenced my work through the fact that I used black and white imagery when it came to doing my double page spread. Finally there is some evidence of modern fashion that is included in this image which again would appeal to this audience and therefore this appears as a type of overview of the reader profile throughout. The next two images being the apple logo as well as the apple macbook image, this again maintains the themes of modern technology as well as apple being the future of technology and now the biggest company in the world, this therefore threads through to the idea of my target audience striving for constant future technology and the appeal that this is for my audience.
The next image, would appeal to both my primary audience of males from 15-30 and also secondary audience of females of around the similar age. This image shows a lot of style and therefore would appeal to the audience through modern style, both the hair and the facial hair appeals to the audience through the fact that it is stand out style, the people involved in the indie genre are attracted by stand out style. As well as this the style of the clothing that is included with the sun glasses, jacket and shirt being something that would appeal through current style. This allows the types of clothing that are included in my magazine being reflected through the type of people that are admired by my target audience. As well as this the secondary audiences would be appealed by the same thing through the fact that females would be attracted to these kinds of males that would be included in the magazine and they therefore would be interested in reading the magazine, maximising the audience.
The use of the Budweiser image (while it wont appeal to the audience fully, through the fact that a lot of the audience would be underage) will appeal to a lot of the audience. This would be attractive for a large amount of the audience and therefore would be something that would be focused on the magazine, the idea of alcohol, while it isn't the most important and shouldn't be over advertised throughout as it will have a negative appearance for the magazine, would be included through the fact that the audience is often associated with partying etc and also the fact that artists that would be included in the magazine such as people like Pete Doherty etc are often associated with them kinds of themes and therefore would appeal to the audience as well as making it clear to the audience the types of artists that would be likely to be included in the magazine, this would suggest that advertisements that are in similar places to alcohol advertisements as well as advertisements on boxes of alcohol would be positive for the magazine promotion.
Next there is the idea of vintage cars, of which is included often in the reader profile idea, this is through the fact that the audience is often appealed to with the ideas of things that stand out well (of which these cars do) as well as being abstract and vintage. The use of these cars, while couldn't really be used for advertising etc it would be used instead throughout the magazine to appeal to the audience, used in background shots etc threaded throughout the magazine.
After this both the type of music and the style of Matt Healey from the 1975 would appeal to the audience, the long over exaggerated hair is the type of hair style that you would expect to be seen on the type of audience that I am trying to appeal to, as well as this the 1975 play music that is highlighted specifically as indie genre music. The use of the denim jacket and sunglasses is again highlighted as indie style, this is therefore why I used these types of clothing in my own piece. Following on from this the use of this watch is the type of apparel that would be associated with the genre and therefore appeal to the audience.
Following this both the style and the type of character that Leonardo Di Caprio is is the type of character that would appeal to our audience, continuing on from this the wolf of wall street is the type of films that would appeal to ages 15-30 males, while this may not massively influence the magazine itself it is useful understand the type of appeal that the target audience has. Following this the next three images are showing to highlight the types of style that appeal to the people associated with the indie genre on different occasions, while these are both very different they are bot very often used in the genre, understanding this allows this to be transferred into my magazine, this is why this is the type of style included throughout the entirety of my magazine.
The image of the arctic monkeys works the same way as the other 1975 images do, these are the types of musician that would be likely to be seen in almost every issue of the magazine as well as the type of style that they ave. Having understood the types of artists that appeal to the audience it allows me to ensure that the articles that are included in the magazine are always positively going to appeal to the audience. Following this the use of vintage cars is used twice again in close order, this continues with the same type of approach as to previously stated. The understanding of the importance of the vintage feel that is so often associated with the genre. these are the types of crd etc that would be seen as a backdrop for photos on double page spread etc.
Throughout the next few images it is predominately just reiterating the points previously made of style, vintage and things that the people that my audience will be interested in e.g. the jack daniels has the same connotations as the budweiser. The football posts are something that is likely to appeal to my audience and would be influential when creating an advertising campaign to ensure that the adverts for the product are placed on the television at the right time e.g. between commercials during a game of football. To continue the use of subway and mcdonalds, this is something that the audience is likely to eat as opposed to 'healthy' foods based predominately through age and sex. To continue the use of films posters is meant to reflect what they are likely to do in their spare time and this is to watch the kinds of films like 22 jump street and the wolf of wall street which appeal to the age and gender.
The use of the image of the female is to highlight how females can attract both my primary and my secondary audience, firstly it could attract the secondary audience through the idea of female fashion and therefore will appeal to the female side of the audience as this is something often associated with appealing to the vast amount of the gender, however it can also appeal to the primary audience of my magazine with attracting the male gaze. The female body appealing to the male gender will attract the audience to my magazine.
